An otherwise routine AGM was thrown into chaos after a member asked an apparently straightforward question: what, precisely, had the organisation achieved?

The annual report published by the Potholers Demanding Controlled Metal Gates (PDCMG) listed several meetings, two Draenen entrance consultations, a review of an existing entrance policy and the successful establishment of a group to investigate the feasibility of allowing a further entrance.

The member argued that these were activities rather than achievements.

Others making counterarguments pointed to the importance of maintaining relationships, representing members wishes and ensuring that no one went caving in Draenen without encountering some sort of drama.

The member was thanked for their contribution and invited to join the committee, at which point they declined.

The chair recorded this as evidence that finding volunteers remained a significant challenge.

The meeting then moved on to the next agenda item, which concerned the minutes of a meeting at which the same question had apparently been raised before.
