A prominent armchair caver has announced an end to decades of committee service, citing exhaustion, frustration and a desire to spend some time actually underground.

Shortly after the announcement, it emerged that the same individual had accepted invitations to join the access subcommittee, the equipment working group and a newly formed task force examining the long-term future of the original committee.

“I've had enough of meetings,” the caver explained, while checking the date of the next meeting.

Their departure from the original committee is expected to create a vacancy. A replacement is being sought and any candidate will require previous committee experience, free evenings, an understanding of historic correspondence and the ability to dig out documents assumed to exist on a laptop belonging to someone who left in 2009.
